Canada is by size, the largest country in North America, second in the world overall (behind only Russia). Renowned worldwide for its vast distances, rich natural beauty, and multicultural history, Canada is one of the world’s wealthiest countries and a major tourist destination.

Things to Do in Canada

Churchill, Manitoba – Considered the polar bear capital of the world, the Beluga Whale Capital of the World, and one of the best places to view the Aurora Borealis, Churchill, Manitoba is worth a visit at least once in your life.
Niagara Falls – Niagara Falls is considered one of the most romantic places in the world. The mammoth Niagara River rumbles toward a 170-foot waterfall at about 20 to 30 miles an hour, creating a misty fog and an unmistakable roar heard from miles away. From the top, crowds flock to the railings to feel the mist on their faces. As you follow the water’s path downward, boats, platforms and observation decks support colorful poncho-clad visitors.
Cabot Trail -One of the world’s most scenic drives, the Cabot Trail loops 300 km round Nova Scotia’s Cape Breton Island, hugging the coastline and traversing Cape Breton Highlands National Park. This is also my childhood home and where I created some of the best memories of my life.
Celtic Colours – For nine days in October, Cape Breton Island is home to a unique celebration of music and culture as the Celtic Colours International Festival presents dozens of concerts all over the island, an extensive line-up of community events, and a nightly Festival Club. Over the years, artists have traveled from Scotland, Ireland, England, Wales, Brittany, Spain, Denmark, Norway, Germany, and Cuba as well as from across the United States and Canada to join the finest of Cape Breton’s musicians, singers, dancers, storytellers and tradition-bearers for the annual Autumn celebration.
Banff National Park – Dramatic, jagged mountains criss-crossed by glacier-fed rivers and emerald lakes make up Banff National Park. The best points of interest include stunning Lake Louise and the striking peaks and shimmering glaciers of the Icefields Parkway.
Bay of Fundy – This 270 km-long bay stretches between the Atlantic provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia and possesses the world’s highest tidal range. Witness the inter-tidal zone’s incredible changes, go whale watching in a kayaking, or take an exhilarating rafting trip on the Shubenacadie River tidal bore or a thrilling jetboat ride on Saint John’s Reversing Falls.
Whistler – Located in the spectacular Coast Mountains of British Columbia just two hours north of Vancouver, Whistler is Canada’s favourite year-round destination. There’s two majestic mountains with a vibrant base village, epic skiing and snowboarding, four championship golf courses, hiking trails, and arguably the best mountain bike park in the world. Whistler is an adrenaline junkie’s dreamland.

When to Visit – Visit the Cabot Trail in early Fall, the first and second week in October, for the best colors and experience the Celtic Colors Festival. In April, the energy in Whistler is unbeatable when the World Ski & Snowboard Festival takes off. July 1st is Canada Day and the best place to experience the magic is on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario.
